Milling machines

1.JPG
Graphic-3KM machine can be supplied only in an engraving or only in a milling version.
In this case, the machine costs less.
You can pay the difference and purchase an add-on at any time.
Powerful milling machine for creating deep bas-reliefs and figured cutting on granite and marble, with powerful drives and spindle, large working field and built-in work table.
Graphic-3KM - key features.

High-precision backlash-free ball screw drives in all three axes X, Y, Z with a positioning accuracy of 3 microns to ensure smooth operation and high quality surface finish.
Double Y drive. Two ball screws increase the power of the machine and ensure that there is no distortion when the carriage moves.
Built-in work table with clamps and removable rubber rollers for easy workpiece movement.
Corrugated protection for X, Y, Z ball screw drives from water and dust.

Equipped with spindle controlled by a frequency converter with a power of 2, 3, 5 kW.
The spindle is turned on and the rotation speed is adjusted according to commands from the control program or from the machine console.
Latest control unit version 12
-High speed and productivity thanks to a modern control algorithm with control of speed and acceleration along each X, Y, Z axis and a look-ahead buffer.

-Dividing the motor pitch by 16, gives accuracy and smoothness.

-Smooth acceleration/deceleration – less mechanical wear, higher precision and cleanliness of processing.

-Change the feed speed and pause, even in the middle of long sections.

-Installation of powerful spindles (3 kW or more) controlled via Modbus protocol.

-The entire system is assembled on one board. Fewer blocks and connections, higher reliability and maintainability.
Engrave computer program, version 12
-Connection to the machine via USB.Simplest setup.

-Work with large files of control programs  - millions of lines.

-3D visualization of the cutter trajectory and the milling process.

-Calculate processing time and time remaining until job completion.

-Milling a selected fragment of the control program.

-Continuation of work after machine stop or power failure.

-Preliminary contour pass of the milling area to check whether the tool goes beyond the workpiece.
Checking depth before milling the bas-relief
Depth check function is designed for monitoring areas of increased load on the cutter. It is used when milling bas-reliefs with a raster (line-by-line) processing strategy, as shown in the figure above.
Depths - are differences in the deepenings of immersion of the cutter into the workpiece that exceed the permissible threshold.
Dangerous deepenings arise when creating ready to mill files in programs such as ArtCAM, Vectric Aspire and others, due to errors in the 3D bas-relief models (for example, small slopes) and incorrect processing strategy (raster pitch, cutter tip diameter).
Recesses are displayed in the Engrave program directly in the 3D model, for example, Fig. (a) in purple.
Preliminary checking of the deepenings, prevents tool breakage and damage to the workpiece. Engrave program highlights in color dangerous areas of the bas-relief, which can be modified in 3D program for creating milling models.

It is possible to modify some types of depths  directly in the Engrave program by correcting 3D files in dangerous areas:
- Milling of dangerous areas in several passes in depth, Fig. (b).
-Reducing the feed rate in dangerous areas by a specified amount.
Software control of frequency converter
Graphic-3KM machine is equipped with a 2.2 / 3 / 5 kW spindle controlled by a frequency converter (inverter).
The frequency converter and spindle are controlled via the RS-485/Modbus protocol.

- Turning on, off, setting the spindle speed according to commands of the control program.
- Adjustment of spindle speed from the control panel during the milling process.
- Test mode of the remote control for spindle control.
- Ready-made settings for using various models of frequency converters.

Spindle current control.

In a situation where the cutter is dull or is working under increased load, the current in the spindle increases sharply. Control unit constantly monitors the current value. If the load on the cutter exceeds the permissible threshold, the work is interrupted.
Control panel on a smartphone
The Engrave Console app turns your Android smartphone into a wireless machine control panel.

-Wireless remote control makes it easier to work on a machine with a large working area when you need to be close to the tool head.

-Smartphone remote duplicates the remote control on the control unit, while you can simultaneously use the main remote control.

-More information is displayed on the smartphone remote control than on the machine control panel. For example, coordinates are displayed with an accuracy of 0.001 mm.

-Communication between the smartphone and the machine is carried out via the Bluetooth interface.
Tool height sensor

-Compensates for the difference in the height of tools, when processing a workpiece with several milling cutters, such asroughing and finishing.

-Compensates for the difference in offset when replacing a damadged milling cutter during the operation process.
Laser non-contact 3D scanner
3D laser scanner is designed for non-contact scanning of bas-reliefs made of stone, wood, plastic, plaster and other materials.

-Control the scanner from Engrave program.

-The result is a digital 3D model in STL format for import into any 3D graphics processing program.

-High resolution – the height accuracy of the model is tens of microns.

-High scanning speed. A 30x40cm model is scanned in 1.5-2 hours in high resolution.

-Scanner resolution (scanning grid pitch) is adjusted in the Engrave program.

-A laser scanner is also used to scan the surface of the workpiece (see below) instead of a contact probe.
Monitoring the surface level of the workpiece during milling process
8.JPG
Before starting work, the level sensor scans the surface of the workpiece.
In the Engrave program, the tool path (top picture) is automatically transformed so that the slopes and bends of the workpiece surface are taken into account during milling (bottom picture).

As a result, when milling on a curved surface, the carved bas-relief will retain its original appearance.
