Modernization
SAUNO company is constantly improving its equipment.
Every 2..3 years we release to the market engraving machines with improved characteristics and the latest control system.
Automatic machines produced by SAUNO are made of separate modules:
- machine frame with ball guides;
- ball screw drives coordinates X,Y,Z;
- machine control system;
- impact-etching head (electromechanical vibration generator);
- electronic level tracking system for the workpiece surface profile;
- control algorithms and software;
- wires;
- engraving tool (etching needle).
The frame of the machine with ball screw guides and ball screw drives constitutes the mechanical part of the machine and has remained an unchanged for more than 15 years, which emphasizes the excellent quality and reliability of the mechanics.
If necessary, the mechanical part of the machine is subjected to only preventive maintenance or repair.
The following are periodically subject to modernization:
- machine control system;
- impact-etching head (electromechanical vibration generator);
- electronic level tracking system for the workpiece surface profile;
- control algorithms and software.
SAUNO company repairs and maintains all of its machines, regardless of the year of manufacture and condition.

Recommendations for modernization
Upgrading the machine to the latest version is easy. You can do it yourself using a regular screwdriver and wrench.
However, we consider it necessary to give some recommendations.
The latest versions of the equipment have high performance. The speed of tool movement in new versions is several times higher. The successful operation of modernized machines depends on the state of the electromechanics of the drives. In order for any equipment to work for a long time and reliably, regular and timely maintenance is necessary.
For example, a car requires regular maintenance (oil change, filters) when it reaches a certain mileage on the speedometer.
The engraving machine is no exception. It also requires regular maintenance, as described in the instruction manual.
Unfortunately, many machine owners neglect simple maintenance requirements. As a result, over years of operation without proper care, dust accumulates in large quantities in machine components.
When installing new high-speed versions of the control system, jamming may occur in the drives, leading to parts of the image moving or causing streaks to appear. These problems are fixable, but their solution will require additional repair work.
Machine maintenance requirements:
1. Regularly clean the workplace from dust once a day, using a household vacuum cleaner.
2. Regularly lubricate and maintain the machine, see the machine's operating instructions for details.
If maintenance is not being done on time, then when installing a new version, it is necessary to perfor technical service of the machine, including disassembling, cleaning and adjusting the ball screw drives.
When upgrading to a new version, it may be necessary to replace some spare parts with new or more powerful ones.
